It's so deeply disgusting to read about all of these "rule followers" who really only care about rules when they offer an avenue to harm people they don't personally care about.

They are so good at blocking… and lying. So often lead by fear rather than principles. Sigh. Thanks for fighting the good fight and for all those making good trouble!!

The performance by the leasdership of the RIIL was the most evasive BS that I have ever heard. Liars and crooks. Harming kids to appease fascists. What kind of example are they setting for students when they refuse to say how they made a decision and when the public will be alowed to really talk with them about it. pathetic.

I recently heard someone (possibly you?) say that the right wing anti-trans movement is looking to generate a case that will get to the Supreme Court to establish new law in this area. RILS, no doubt understanding that this is the gambit, decided it does not want to be the defendant in such a test case, so they are shifting the responsibility to their constituent members to each make their own decisions. Will trans kids be allowed to compete in their identified (if that’s the right term) gender? Will there be conditions or limitations on this? Will a school district be able to refuse to participate in an event if they disagree with the opposing district’s stance?

RIILS doesn’t exist to mediate these issues and create policy, what is the point of its existence? It can’t shirk responsibility.

The anti-trans activists are not going to stop trying to divide communities at the expense of trans kids

It has to lead. What it should be doing is building consensus among all of its member districts, behind a reasonable set of policies that enable trans kids to participate, and if a minority of districts can’t deal with it, let them go.
