"She works in the Division of Organ Transplant. There are three medical doctors who do her work, and the other two doctors are going to be working hard to make up for the loss of Rasha."
In an earlier version of this piece, a line seemed to indicate that Dr. Rasha Alawieh had died. This was [I think] a spellcheck error, and I thank the people who caught it and notified me. It has been corrected.
How did they gain access to her phone? My guess, and it’s just a guess, is that customs demanded access to it as a condition of entry. They saw what they saw and officially denied her entry. If that is the case, it will now be five years before she can again try ti recenter the US. What I am saying really is that I would like to know the legalities. Due process is a fundamental right.
Since there is some contradiction - they looked at her phone and she admitted supporting a terrorist - only she knows what is true.
Obviously she is a well-educated woman. I don't know how long she has lived in the States. She had to know the political climate on both sides was touchy. It's been like the Gestapo since Jan. 20th. Taking pictures and keeping them on her phone was putting a target on her back. If she felt they were important to her, she should have emailed them and then deleted them from the phone. While we need her back in R.I., I don't believe any protest will work. The doctor set herself up to fail. Her politics are different than ours. Freedom of Speech isn't on the menu lately.
I wish her well and I'm sure she will continue to save lives where she is. It takes a special person with her skills to make a difference.
Hey, all she does is save lives in a highly-specialized field requiring years of training and rigid discipline. . . why not just pick someone else up on the street?

Yes, this is sarcasm.
