Wow! This is great to see. Thank you for making this strong statement public.

Yet the people in power want a "Judeo-Christian" nation based on "western" values. They must be making up their own religion.

This is indeed great to see even though the list is short. What I notice especially is the absence of SBC (Southern Baptist Convention) churches. Their absence from the list says to me that Jesus is not welcome in their churches and has not been for years.

Thank you council of churches. As an atheist I am skeptical of all religions, but especially Christians who flunk the what would Jesus do test. The Council of Churches on a regular basis does the right thing.

As a Catholic, I'm embarrassed that not one Bishop signed this. Pope John XXIII held the 2nd Vatican Council. Among its intent was to have better relations with other faiths, esp. Judaism.

As of 2023, Catholicism was the largest religious body in 36 states. RI leads the pack with 42% and Mass. is 2nd with 34%.

I hope that they can pull this off. Safe Haven is churches, schools, and hospitals. I would hate to think that ICE is entering schools. How traumatic for these kids and their classmates.

The 14th Amendment still applies. They would need a warrant, the immigrants are subject to due process, and any and all laws of a regular citizen. Trump can rescind Biden's order but he can't rescind the Constitution.

At the 1963 March in Washington for Jobs and Freedom, I marveled at all the busses from churches and synagogues marching together. I also learned as a young New Yorker that "We are all immigrants." We know we need to revive that kind of solidarity in the face of new governmental discrimination and prejudice. I applaud all our local and national religious groups taking emergency initiative and action now.
