Unbelievable.

Outrageous. He hasn't yet listened to the City Council. He really needs to go. I'm embarrassed for Cranston.

Cranston should be home to the states largest number of homeless shelters, all with onsite transitional centers including social services, employment services, police substations, and mental health services. Some of these services are already available in the state, but they need to be onsite to be effective. The area of Cranston where the abandoned state buildings are is a perfect location. The prison system and other agencies in the area do not provide appropriate access to transitional services, therefore creating the homelessness they are planning to criminalize. Criminalizing homeless is a waste of city and state resources and does nothing to improve the systemic issue. People need a way out of homelessness and the care and education to help guide them back on track. Some people who have addiction and or mental health issues and will need long term housing and support. This is how communities appropriately support their residents. This system creates safer more stable communities. All people deserve compassion and to be treated like their lives matter. Seems like a no brainer to me, but here we are, sending the encampments of less fortunate away to where? Somewhere to be someone else's problem? Let's do better RI.

They are both awful and really do NOT care about humanity. His “bootstrap” comment made me sick. What a jerk.

I particularly like Hopkins "spanish contingent".

This has been a hot topic on NextDoor today prior to Hopkins. Note that his E.O. says 'will remove encampments' - it says nothing about personal belongings so they had better not touch their belongings. This is all that they have. I read about some woman that they did this to - pictures of her son (probably her most valued) was destroyed. Also - most of the tents are 'gifts' from advocates. Why do they keep destroying things? Store them, stop destroying everything. Give them a receipt as a good faith effort.

What fries me is the State. Pryor was paid over $200 K and then brought in the previous "czar" for quite some time at a lot of per hr. money. Supposedly for training but, in my book, how long is training? What did Pryor do? Nothing - there's still no affordable housing, no new shelters. It was a 'buddy' assignment - a failed politician got a job. This State has the pallets. Time to cut thru the red tape. This State is a joke. Open the pallets. I have to add - who designed that set-up? There's no room for an emergency vehicle to get thru. More piss poor planning.

I'm sympathetic but I'm also a NIMBY. Sorry, but Cranston has become State Central and, this is the one and only time that I'll ever agree with Hopkins, Cranston isn't reimbursed for what we put up with. That area is nearby. It's always congested. What was a suburb is starting to look like the 'hood. Reservoir Ave. is the main drag for the dregs and they're not from Cranston. Our police are always out and about because there is always trouble. Fire engines and ambulances, esp. Garden City, never stop. We need more cops, firemen, EMTs and equipment.

Not only do we have Harrington Hall, the EconoLodge is home for many as is 501 Reservoir. It's time to put a stop to this. These are all near schools and residential areas. What happened to the lady in Coventry can happen here. To think otherwise is foolish. I'm tired of living behind locked doors & windows, can't leave a flowerpot outside, or go for a walk. This is not living.
