The Audubon Society also wrote a letter to RIDEM pointing out that the environmental review of the area "made an erroneous claim regarding the impact of the proposed construction on migratory birds while citing the Audubon Society of Rhode Island as the source of this information. The Audubon Society of Rhode Island requests that the city of Pawtucket remove the current findings and reassess the data related to the impact of the proposed project on migratory birds as stated in the environmental review. . . . The review states that the proposed construction of approximately 60% of the current open space to impervious pavement would have 'no impact or potential for some improvement' to migratory birds. The data source for this conclusion is listed as 'Audubon Society of Rhode Island, 2023.' We did not provide these data or support such findings." The letter goes on at length to explain the potential environmental destruction of the city's plan.

Lies again.

My source for this letter is (as usual) Steve Alhquist's blog.

What is Grebien's financial gain from the commercialization of Morley Field? There has to be some connection for kickbacks or a backroom deal.

The contention by the City of Pawtucket about being open to public input about the future of Morley Field in no way resembles what actually happened. The City set up a meeting at the Woodlawn Community Center specifically to tell us what to think about a shrunken park. They did everything they could to prevent a public speak out and said the only thing we are interested is you going to talk one on one with the consultants. We conducted a speak out and asked every person in the room to say their peace, and nearly everyone present (about 20 people) very specifically demanded that Morley Field be refurbished and reopened as a 5 acre open space/athletic field as every other athletic field in the neighborhood has already been closed. The press release the city sent out was a complete lie about what the public said.

The City did an online comment period. 175 people replied. 174 of them said the city should reopen Morley Field as an athletic field. Which is what the neighborhood needs. The city said people were not writing on topic and they were going to ignore them. The city has refused to even meet with the City Councilor from the district. The city is trying to hide its shady deeds and injustice.
