From a press release:
Vincent Marzullo announced today that he filed his “declaration of candidacy” for State Representative in District 26 (Warwick, West Warwick, and Coventry) as an Independent candidate. That seat is being vacated by current Representative Patricia Morgan, a Republican who has announced her intent to run for the United States Senate against incumbent Senator Sheldon Whitehouse.
“Voters have become disillusioned and frustrated with the Democratic and Republican political parties bickering, posturing, and name calling which has created government gridlock, and doesn’t address the needs of our taxpayers, seniors, public education, housing, and aiding our vulnerable populations,” said Marzullo, (a.k.a. Monopoly Man) who volunteers weekly at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Mathewson Street Church, and the DaVinci Community Center. “To restore hope and opportunity for all Rhode Islanders we must ensure responsive, efficient, and reliable government administration that is transparent and conducted with integrity – and active oversight by the General Assembly is critical.”
Vincent Marzullo served for 31 years as a federal civil rights/social justice Director in Rhode Island for the Corporation for National & Community Service. Last year, Vin served as the Interim Executive Director of the DaVinci Community Center in Providence and is a Board member of the Senior Agenda Coalition of Rhode Island. Additionally, Vin serves on the Congressional Senior Citizen Advisory Committee to Congressman Seth Magaziner. For the past three years, Vin has been an active national advocate for the re-establishment of the House Select Committee on Aging, which was once chaired by the legendary, late Florida Congressman Claude Pepper – who emerged as the nation's foremost spokesman for the elderly, especially regarding Social Security programs.
Vin is a member of the Italo-American Club of Rhode Island, West Warwick Elks, West Warwick AARP Chapter, a past AARP Rhode Island President, and a co-founder of the West Warwick Neighborhood Crime Watch group. He graduated from Providence College (PC) and is an avid season’s ticketholder for PC Men’s basketball. Marzullo is married to Josephine Marzullo, a retired MetLife Auto/Home Supervisor. They have two children: Michael Marzullo is in his 24th year as a NY police officer and Amanda Wilmouth is the Development Director at St. Joseph’s School in West Warwick. The Marzullos have four grandchildren.
Thanks for the background info on Marzullo. Morgan for US Senator! God help us! She was horrible for District 26 and for RI on the state level.
