“The proposed budget includes one of the most significant tax fairness victories in Rhode Island in decades," says EPI Executive Director Weayonnoh Nelson-Davies.
First time ever I’ve read a budget explanation and analysis written for the average, busy reader, and understood it completely! Many thanks to you, Steve.
There are some victories in there. On taxes, fairness, healthcare, and climate and environment. one hurray. they should have done better. That gives them one week to pass all the non budget stuff like voters rights, protections for readers, protection from federal misconduct, reduction of pesticides, compost, and so much more. Hope they do their jobs,
I agree the budget is a step forward. Not just RIPTA, a lot of features were better than the Governor's submission, and it is appropriate to give the new Speaker some appreciation, (maybe Shekarchi too) especially as there are a substantial group of naysayers who decry the level of spending that has been increased, but rarely state just what they would cut. I'd like to hear what the candidates for Governor say about all thisl
