"...the police department was in violation of both city ordinance and police department policy when they impermissibly assisted ICE agents in conducting civil immigration enforcement operations.”
It appears the police are quite comfortable doing the bidding of convicted felon Donald Trump even when it violates the law and city olicy. Glad PERA called them out, now we need to fire the police who obey the felon in DC rather than the people of Providence.
First, I'm totally against what ICE is doing to our communities. However, I read through all of this and saw the video earlier. I found that Sgt. Salmon was instrumental in navigating the situation and keeping the resident's safety in mind and fulfilling that objective. No damage to property, minus the vehicles was experienced and people were kept safe. I believe he helped in de-escalating the situation preventing ICE from ramming through the door to the residence and causing great and undue harm to the family inside. Our police, although maybe they went a bit too far in helping ICE afterwards were instrumental in keeping people and property safe and unharmed. Sgt. Salmon in my opinion was the hero of the day in that complicated ordeal. Even Ms. Martinez referred to Sgt. Salmon as speaking to her "as a human being", unlike how ICE spoke to her.
Okay, and...? They have ZERO authority. It's a feel good, fake committee.
