This is much needed! Thank you to the legislators who have worked on these bills and thank you Steve for great information and reporting on the bills!

Inequality is one of the main reassons economies sputter. The more the inequality in a commujnty, the harder it is to grow the economy, especially in consumer economies. It works the same way globally. It therefore makes complete sense to tax the rich at a higher rate than currently, especially considering that 9 of the last 10 recessions in the US started when/because taxes on the rich were cut. The appropriate thing for RI to do if it wants to support its inrastructure and meet social needs is the raise taxes on the rich using all of the proposed methods. In addition the rich were just give an big tax cut federally while funding for RI for social services and infrastructure. especially infrastructure to transform to a clean energy system, was eliminated. As future prosperity depends upon our successful transition to clean eneregy, it is completely appropriate to claw back the tax cut Trump gave to the rich (which are accompanied by federal cuts to clean infrastucture and social spending) and use it to replace the federal cuts.
