I had only seen his name mentioned a few times & knew nothing about him. Of course it was distressing - there's too much of this. A family is left without a member for no purpose as the killer is usually dead. They leave no note, no reason but the killer is well aware he's not going to be around to explain it.

I get RINewToday. There was an article on how our reps. voted for the resolution. I had to agree with Mr. Amo and posted it. The article continued the next day. I read the comments and mine was gone. It's not the 1st time I've had a run in with Ms. Thomas but didn't receive an email explaining why. I'm nearing 77 and tired of arguing my point.

I agree with Ms. Della-Piana. Turning Point made the arrangements. I didn’t watch it but within minutes of the ending, headlines began showing up, saying Kirk was considered a martyr. Any video or photo clips extolled a religious bent.

Politics and religion don’t mix. No doubt that he was a man of faith and worth mentioning. It was part of the man. However, this wasn’t a religious service but a memorial. I fully expected the crowd to stand and yell ‘Hallelujah’ and beat their chests. Our leadership uses religion as a prop to push its agenda, which shows no kindness, goodness, or empathy.

It was nothing more than a promotion for Turning Point.

I encourage you to watch it – particularly Erika’s presentation.

I'm not sitting thru that. I saw and heard enough from the group of hypocrites who have no beliefs but pretend that they do to garner attention & votes. I've stopped taking things at face value - a bit late at my age. The shot of the wife being held by Trump was, IMO, set-up. I would think most widows would turn their faces away from a camera as they cried. I said to my oldest to wait and see - they would make him a martyr. Of course, the headlines a couple of days later did just that. He was an activist, not a politician. He had what seemed like a state funeral, not a memorial. Multiple Funding sites total over $6 million. Others take advantage - one student has a GoFundMe to pay for college after he saw one of Kirk's videos.

I have my own faith - that's all the Kirk and I had in common. I'm not aligned with anything he preached. The man's death is being used to further a cause and become a cash cow. Some will make this a religious push. Our country is run on the Constitution and laws. Religion isn't part of it, nor should it be. We are free to choose a religion, to speak, to make choices. Religion and politics are two separate boxes. Each has "rules" and some align. The Declaration of Independence covers that very simply - " that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." That one sentence covers both. The rest is separate and apart.
