Corey Jones launches campaign for Providence School Board Region 1 with East Side endorsements on Juneteenth

Corey Jones announced his campaign for Providence School Board Region 1 on Wednesday.
“This campaign is a commitment to prioritize the needs of Every Student & Every Family in the Providence School District,” said Corey Jones. “Through working with our state and local partners, we’ll coordinate new and existing resources to support our most vulnerable students and families. As the former Executive Director of the BLM RI PAC, I have committed to the life work of evening the playing field. I’m running for the Providence School Board because our students have been left behind for too long. Together, we’ll transition our schools to a community school model that supports students and their families’ continuous learning.”

“Providence Public Schools needs an experienced advocate to support Providence’s transition to a community school model that puts students and families first. Jones is proud to launch his campaign alongside distinguished elected officials representing the East Side district in the State Senate, House of Representatives, and City Council.
“Corey Jones is currently the Chief of Policy and Planning on the Governor’s Workforce Board at the Department of Labor and Training, Co-Vice Chair of the Pathway To End Gun Violence Committee, Board Member of Summit Neighborhood Association, and Committee Member of the Ward 3 Democratic Committee. He’s a former substitute teacher, former Executive Director of Black Lives Matter Rhode Island PAC, former candidate for Providence City Council Ward 3, and former policy advisor for Rhode Island Governor Daniel McKee.
