The Black Lives Matter RI PAC held its 2nd Annual Juneteenth Awards Ceremony on Saturday morning at the Providence Public Library to honor the following leaders:
Arts & Cultural Excellence Award: Angela “Agonza” Gonzalez
Community Impact Award: Angie Ankoma
Emerging Leader Award: Zainabou Thiam
Lifetime Achievement Award: Henrietta White-Holder
In addition, there was a live performance by Charles “Chachi” Carvalho, an acclaimed hip-hop artist from Pawtucket, who is also the City of Pawtucket's inaugural Chief Equity Officer, and a keynote from Dr. Christopher West, inaugural Curator for the Black Diaspora at Brown University’s John Hay Library. entitled “Juneteenth and the Origins of Black Lives Matter.”
